Liked: Wonderful hotel in the perfect location. It's a 6- 7 minute walk from the train station. Greeted by a very friendly male receptionist. All the staff were so helpful and friendly. We had seen some reviews that have said it was noisey as you are right in the centre of everything but didn't hear a thing and I am a very light sleeper. Wonderful view from our room. Lovely compact town, but so much going on. One evening we stumbled across a singer in the courtyard in front of the church, and later found out it was well known fado singer. Used sunbeds at both Emma's and Duche both great. Emma's seemed more lively with louder music (not too loud) whilst Duche was more peaceful.....but both great. Massive Auchen supermarket on the outskirts of town, but most definitely walkable. We had a lovely meals in the centre but if you are looking at a more modern restaurant try the marina it had several lovely restaurants. Had a day trip to Sintra which was definitely a highlight. We were going to get the bus there and back but decided to go by bolt, as we wanted to get back and watch the England football game. Went to Quinta da regaleira, which we had tickets for 10.30. This is amazing and spent about 2 hours there and could definitely go back and spend most of the day there. We then walked back to the town and got a bolt to Pena Palace. We didn't have tickets for inside so we picked one of the walking routes, we choose the Chalet route which is a pleasant 1hour + walk. We could have done the other 2 routes if we had more time and if it wasnt 37°. We then went to moorish castle and spent an hour there. Again could spend longer but it was so hot and of course needed to get back for the football! Back in Cascais we went into town and lots if restaurant had the football on, decided on Duke restaurant, which was a good choice, great food and great service. There is a massive Auchen supermarket on the outskirts of town but most definitely walkable. Could be better: If I had to pick one thing, I would say the hot breakfast items ie. eggs, beans, mushroom etc were always on the cold side other than that it was perfect.
